In
business since 1977, LPI Technical Services entered the ship repair
and maritime engineering arena in 1996. Since then, the company
has experienced steady growth in this field, earning a reputation
among the Tidewater ship maintenance community for doing quality
work at a fair price.
Headquartered
in Chesapeake, Virginia, LPI has regional offices in Mayport,
Florida. LPI is a privately-owned small, disadvantaged, woman-owned
business. We achieved 8(a)
status in 2001. Our team of more than 100 engineering, technical,
logistical, and administrative professionals supports our Navy,
other government, and commercial customers on the waterfront,
at our Chesapeake fabrication facility, and at our customer
sites. In addition, our reach has extended to Honolulu, Japan,
Guam and Bahrain.
Our
waterfront efforts include both equipment/systems maintenance
ship repair and alteration installation. We pride ourselves on
our responsiveness and professionalism, and the quality of our
work. LPI is an employee-oriented company, offering competitive
salaries and an excellent benefits package, and going to great
lengths to ensure continuity of employment in a business arena
known for workload "peaks and valleys."
Our
customers' ships and craft run the gamut from harbor tugs to nuclear
aircraft carriers, and include commercial liquid natural gas (LNG)
carriers and Navy landing craft air cushion (LCAC). Our significant
contractual efforts include engineering, technical, and industrial
support of the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division,
Naval Ship Systems Engineering Station (NSWCCD-SSES), both Maintenance
Technologies and Enabling Technologies (including Integrated Condition
Assessment System (ICAS) upgrades); emergent ship repair in support
of the Regional Support Group, Norfolk; LCAC repair and upgrade
for Assault Craft Unit Four (ACU-4) at Little Creek Naval Amphibious
Base; repair of a variety of boats and craft for Port Operations,
Norfolk; installation of the Collective Protection System (CPS)
aboard LHA Class Ships; support of the Ship's Equipment Material
Assessment Team (SEMAT) Program for SUPSHIP Portsmouth; a variety
of shipboard hull, mechanical, and electrical (HM&E) work
for the U. S. Coast Guard; and assistance in the conversion of
two LNG carriers for Argent Marine. We were awarded an Agreement
for Boat Repair (ABR) by NAVSEA in March 2004. Also in April 2004,
LPI was awarded a SeaPort-e contract for all geographical zones.
In
1997, LPI and QED Systems,
Inc., entered into a Mentor-Protégé agreement
under the cognizance of the DoD Office of Small and Disadvantaged
Business Utilization. Jointly we were awarded the 2003 Nunn-Perry
Award for best fulfilling the intent of the Mentor-Protégé
Program.
LPI's
product lines have expanded to include: Ship/craft repair and
maintenance; alteration prefabrication and installation; logistics
support; information technology support; maintenance planning;
technical documentation development; and design services. We have
a full service industrial facility at our Chesapeake location,
and are especially proud of our sheet metal fabrication capability,
significantly expanded in 2002. We look forward to a bright future
and to adding to our steadily growing list of satisfied customers.
